1. Open Innovation for Addressing the Ukrainian War: Web2Learn actively contributes to social causes by leveraging innovation to address the humanitarian crisis resulting from the conflict in Ukraine. Notable initiatives include winning an innovation prize in the #EUSpace4Ukraine hackathon and participating in transnational collaborations like AGILE and Baltics4UA to support Ukraine through citizen engagement.
2. Civic Engagement in Knowledge-Building and Citizen Science: In the realm of citizen science and civic engagement, Web2Learn plays a pivotal role. The company is involved in various projects, such as the HORIZON project “European Citizen Science” and initiatives like INOS, HEIDI, eCHOIng, CitizenHeritage, and BOLD. Additionally, Web2Learn contributes to the RE:ERUA-funded Re_Act project, exploring academic activism as a manifestation of societal engagement and social innovation in responsible research.
Web2Learn has been a key player in 24 EU-funded projects since 2013, spanning Erasmus+ and Council of Europe initiatives. Korina Defteraiou
Korina specialises in educational activities and programs that foster inclusion and diversity, promote lifelong learning and raise awareness of social and educational challenges. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpretation from the Ionian University and she holds two Master’s degrees: the first in European Studies from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the second in Cultural Management, Communication and Media from the Panteion University. She has also studied abroad, at the University of Strasbourg (France) and at the Higher Institute of Translators and Interpreters (ISTI) in Brussels (Belgium) during her undergraduate studies. She is fluent in English and French and has a good understanding of German. She has experience in grants management and strong project management skills as she is a certified project manager in agile methodology (DASM) by the Project Management Institute.
Claire Fragiadaki
Claire graduated from the Technological Institute in Larissa with a degree in computer engineering. Her knowledge of the digital world is multifaceted and includes web development, social media marketing, and IT. She has a special enthusiasm for creating websites and is dedicated to lifelong learning and keeping up with new and developing technology.
Alexandros Kalamantis
Alexandros is the co-founder of Web2Learn since its establishment in 2014. He studied electronics and telecommunication systems in Thessaloniki. He currently works on ICT and digital technologies and supports Web2Learn projects in a technological capacity , focussing on the technological suitability of learning and training solutions.
Alexandros enjoys transnational collaborations through the various Web2Learn projects and initiatives that he is involved in. He is also involved in Project management and Project monitoring, where he applies innovative management solutions for the smooth implementation of each project’s outcome.
Dr. Katerina Zourou
Katerina Zourou, Ph.D, is a recognised researcher in the area of technology-enhanced education, focusing on open and social learning. She has produced one scholar book (Palgrave/ MacMillan), 3 journal special issues and more than 30 peer reviewed papers at international journals and conference proceedings. Katerina also gives lectures at universities, including the Hellenic Open University, and the University of Grenoble Alpes. She is regularly invited to give talks or to participate in expert panels (European Commission, EU Joint Research Centre, EACEA, Council of Europe, European and Asian Universities, etc.).
Katerina is the Managing Director of Web2Learn, a research and development company in Thessaloniki, Greece, established in 2014. Web2Learn is a partner in more than 43 transnational projects funded by the Council of Europe, the European Commission, and national funds.
Kateryna Boichenko
Kateryna is a distinguished expert in Economic Science, with a rich background in entrepreneurial consulting and international economic research (PhD in Economics). Her research interests encompass various areas, including innovations, business economics, data science, smart business models, European identity, citizenship and values, as well as the social responsibility of educational institutions.
As the Head of the Master’s Programme in Business Economics at Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman, Kateryna plays a crucial role in shaping the future of aspiring business professionals. Beyond her academic commitments, she actively engages in professional activities as a member of the Global Economic Policy Institute and the International Foundation of Scientists and Educators.
Kateryna’s involvement in projects focused on promoting entrepreneurial spirit, inclusive growth, and integrated development further exemplifies her dedication to fostering positive change in society.
Stefania Oikonomou
Stefania specialises in community engagement and social participation in citizen science projects. Stefania is also interested in science communication and open science, having completed training in Greece and abroad. She has acquired a BA in political science (2020) and an MA in political history (2022) from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
Motivated to explore community engagement in citizen science, Stefania was awarded a fellowship to attend the “Science Camp on community engagement in environmental research” organised by Earthwatch Europe in March 2023. She is passionate about how different forms of civic engagement and active citizenship manifest themselves through digital technologies (i.e. digital activism, advocacy, citizen science). Stefania develops and carries out educational and training activities with underrepresented communities (e.g. Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing people, refugees) as a way to make citizen science more participatory and inclusive. She is also a public speaker and gives talks at academic conferences and webinars.
